Skegness Windows and Conservatory Installation Case Study
“Nothing was too much trouble!”
Upgrading a new property can be daunting. From windows to doors, there are often many outdated features that need to be replaced. We spoke with our repeat customers, Mr and Mrs Meanwell, about how Spire helped them to update their new Skegness home – including a brand-new conservatory installation with Thermotec insulated roofing.
Mr and Mrs Meanwell had just purchased their new home in sunny Skegness when they decided to update their windows and doors. Right away, they knew there was only one company they wanted to use – Spire Windows of Louth.
Spire Windows’ strong local presence had made an impact on Mrs Meanwell. She remembered driving past our previous headquarters when her children were young – and noticed the familiar Spire Windows van outside her neighbours’ house when they had installations done.
The project itself was a large one, with some hurdles for the Spire fitting team to overcome. The Meanwells’ original windows were an awkward shape and did not match up with each other. One bedroom window wouldn’t shut at all.
The couple wanted large bay windows with leaded detail for the front wall, along with a new leaded glass window in their front door.
After discussing their plans to install a new Victorian conservatory with the surveyor, they also decided to use Spire Windows as their conservatory installers – including our Thermotec insulated roofing panels.
The process - planning the windows and conservatory installation
The Spire team faced some unique challenges with the preparation and installation. For example, the problems with the original windows made sizing the new windows more difficult.
Meanwhile, a tree in the Meanwells’ garden had become too big and, due to its location, conflicted with the installation. A drain also needed to be moved and replaced.
Amendments to the length of the Victorian conservatory were also required. Once the customer requested these, the Spire team altered them in the drawings.
The installation - “Nothing was too much trouble!”
Mr and Mrs Meanwell were impressed with how the fitters tackled the challenging aspects of the installations. “Nothing was too much trouble!” Despite the initial difficulties with sizing, the stunning bay windows were installed, resolving the issues with the previous mismatched windows.
In the middle of a heatwave, the Spire team installed the conservatory, along with the hybrid glass and Thermotec conservatory roofing. Although the Meanwells had their tree removed, the Spire team removed all the roots, as well as the paving slabs from the former patio so that the conservatory footings could be installed.
The couple were also impressed by Spire’s all-inclusive approach. From the initial design and measurements to the final touches, including lighting and electrics, Spire took care of every part of the process.
The results - a relaxing space all year round
The Meanwells were immediately impressed by the high quality of their new windows. They’re also continuing to enjoy their conservatory with insulated roofing. “We’re always in there every day. Everyone loves it!”
Despite two frosty winters, they’ve had no draughts in their conservatory. It has also remained cool through all the heatwaves, creating a relaxing living space to use all year round. “It’s the best decision we made!”
